Yellow leaves

This little guy is starting to turn yellow and lose leaves, what's wrong? I have had it for about 5 months now. I was told to treat it similar to a pothos as they are closely related. Since then I have only watered it twice because its soil retains a lot of moisture and is always wet. It lost a leave a couple of days ago, and today I checked on it and it's turning very yellow, has lost a big leaf and is wobbly. I'm confused because this tells me it has too much water, but I'm not watering it often at all. I only water it when it feels dry, and it always feels wet. Any help? I really love this plant.
